Are you ready for a new format of f1 racing? I was not and almost forgot that qualifying was on Friday. Baku has received the 4th round of the championship and the first sprint weekend of the year with new rules.

Before the weekend starts, it was expected a full dominance by the Red Bull drivers, especially because of the straight-line speed they have shown at the beginning of the year. But as always the fans are looking forward to the developments performed by each team with the hope of getting closer races.

For this weekend I had four main questions popping up:

  • What will this new format bring to the show?
  • Will Sergio Perez be again dominant in a street circuit?
  • Is Ferrari going to have a good weekend finally?
  • The performance of Mclaren in the last Grand Prix, was only luck, or have they made a big improvement?

The first qualifying of the weekend started with a red flag party but ended with a very tight discussion for the pole position where for half of the Q3 P1 and P2 had the same time. Here, Leclerc was able to improve his time and took a surprising pole position to Ferrari.

On the second qualifying, which happen on Saturday, we saw an issue with the new rules, right before the session…
